National League Final: Suwon City draw first blood with 2-0 win

Suwon City took a huge step towards clinching the 2010 National League championship title after defeating Daejeon Hydro & Nuclear Power 2-0 in tonight’s championship final first leg match in Daejeon.

Suwon went into the match on the back of a fine run of form having lost just one of their last seventeen matches, and they went ahead midway through the first half when a mistake from Daejeon goalkeeper Choi Kyu-hwan when dealing with a Jung Myung-oh corner saw the ball drop into the Daejeon net to put Suwon ahead.

The visitors pressed forward in the second half and their efforts were rewarded twelve minutes from time when Park Kyu-tae’s through pass allowed Jang Ji-wook to break through the Daejeon defensive line and slot the ball past Choi to make it 2-0.

Both sides will meet again this Friday evening in the second leg where Suwon City will start as massive favourites to pick up their first ever National League title crown.
