Nigeria to play without key players

The Nigerian national team that will play against Korea on the 11th has been forced to play without some of its best players due to injuries and club commitments.


Austin Eguavoen, the caretaker coach of the Nigeria squad, told AFP that Lukman Haruna of AS Monaco has a reported injury while Obinna Nsofor of Inter Milan and Ayodele Adeleye of Metalurh Donetsk were not released by their respective clubs. Osaze Odemwingie of Lokomotiv Moscow and Ikechukwu Uche of Real Zaragoza are also injured.


Eguavoen plans on filling the voids left by some of his European stars with domestic league players.


Alternatively, Korean head coach Cho Kwang-rae revealed that he has called up all the Korean stars playing abroad. It remains to be seen how many of them will actually join the squad for the Nigeria match.
