Hamburg youth revelation Son Heung-Min impressed in another second-half cameo for the Bundesliga team as they held Croatian side HNK Hajduk Split in an entertaining 3-3 draw on Wednesday. Coming on at the 69th minute mark, Son, a former U-17 standout, enhanced his fledgling reputation with a series of mazy runs, clever passes and tricky plays on the right wing. For many Hamburg SV supporters this was the first opportunity to witness Son Heung-Min in action and the consensus was extremely positive. Many fans were quick to take to the fleet-footed attacker citing his outstanding technique, flair and understanding of the game while also noting his “eye for goal”. Others went further to proclaim Son as being the “next big thing” and
Manager Armin Veh was likewise full of praise for his young star but had a few words of caution: “He is carefree — that certainly helps [his play] initially. When he starts thinking about his game later on, he may experience a temporary slump. But he is indeed a great talent. He passes the ball and immediately goes forward, right where it hurts. Many players seem to avoid that but he doesn’t…He has outstanding skills. I can’t say exactly what will happen to him in the future, but I can certainly picture him making appearances for the first team. Why not?”
