Korea international Park Ju-Young snapped his streak of scoreless matches at six with a goal for AS Monaco against Bordeaux in Round 11 action of the French Ligue 1 on Tuesday.
The much needed goal came in the 49th minute as Monaco were trailing 1-0 after left-back Djimi Traore scored an own goal only ten minutes into the match. As Djeudonne Mbokani‘s header from the center of the box came off the cross bar, Park followed through on the play and half-volleyed the ball into the net with his right foot.
Mathieu Coutadeur‘s free-kick put Monaco on top just five minutes past the hour mark. The former Le Mans‘ midfielder converted a free-kick drawn by Mbokani from the left flank and provided Monaco with a chance to end its four match winless streak.
However, second half substitute Jussie came to Bordeaux’s rescue and denied the home side from winning as his left footed shot from an acute angle was driven into the net for the equalizer in the 74th minute.
Having been winless in its last five matches, Monaco remained in the relegation zone. Monaco manager Guy Lacombe‘s only consolation from the match was the fact that his star striker Park finally hit the net for the first time since Round 5 match against Marseille in September.
Park, however, will head to China following this weekend’s clash against AS Nancy Lorraine to join his international teammates as Hong Myung-Bo‘s side gets ready to begin its quest for the gold medal at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.
The striker, who isn’t likely to available for South Korea‘s first match in the group stages against North Korea, is likely to miss at least two to three matches for Monaco.
