Both Chunnam Dragons and Busan I’Park will have new management teams for the 2011 K-League season after their respective managers both announced they would be leaving the clubs after Sunday’s final round of fixtures of the 2010 regular league season.
51 year-old Park Hang-seo tendered his resignation as Chunnam manager on Thursday after what has turned out to be a disappointing third season in charge of the Gwangyang-based side, with the club languishing in eleventh and never having been in serious contention for a championship playoff position all year.
Park’s replacement as manager will be former Bucheon SK and Korean national team assistant manager Jung Hae-sung who will take charge after Park leads the side for one final match at home to Daegu FC this Sunday.
Busan I’Park will also be seeking a new management team as Hwang Sun-hong confirmed that he has been unable to agree terms on a new contract with the club. Speculation has linked Hwang with the Pohang Steelers job and that is set to intensify now that he will be leaving Busan.
Yeongnam University manager Kim Byung-soo is the early favourite to replace Hwang at Busan but the club have said they are in no rush to make a decision about his successor.
