Korean prospect Lee Yong-Jae scored his first competitive goal for FC Nantes in round 12 action of the French Ligue 2 against Chateauroux. The match, however, ended in a 1-1 draw and Nantes only managed to retain its eighth position in the league table.
Deployed behind the center-forward Filip Djordjevic, Lee was in Baptiste Gentili‘s starting 11 for the first time in six weeks as he registered his first goal for the senior team. This was only his third match after returning from an ankle injury he suffered early last month. The 19 year-old has only scored a few goals for Nantes’ reserves and youth sides in the past after joining the French club last year.
Nantes, playing at its home stadium La Beaujoire, went ahead thanks to Lee’s goal in the 56th minute. All match long, Lee combined brilliantly with the likes of Djordjevic, Lionel Carole, and Loïc Nego. It was this combination play which put Nantes ahead as Nego’s pass to the center from the right flank found Carole who released Lee for the goal.
However, Chateauroux leveled just four minutes later with a Kevin Dupois equalizer.
Lee was replaced by Moncaf Zerka in stoppage time.
In other news, Song Jin-Hyung was substituted in for the last ten minutes of FC Tours‘ away match at AC Ajaccio. Song, despite having started all of Tours’ home matches this season, was once again left out of Daniel Sanchez‘s starting line-up for the away match due to tactical reasons as his side fell 0-2 following a brace by Ajaccio striker Jean-Francois Riviere.
Tours lost its first place position in the league, but still managed to stay in top three which is good enough for promotion to Ligue 1.
