With wingback and possible android Cha Du-ri failing a late fitness test due to a niggling hamstring injury, Ki Sung-yong was left to shoulder the burden of the Korean Celtic duo at home against St. Mirren. Coming on as a substitute for Israeli midfielder Baram Kayal in the 71st minute, Ki didn’t take long to make his presence known as, at the stroke of the 80th minute, controlled a smart cutback from the left and blasted a stunning 27-yard rocket into the top right hand corner of the net leaving goalkeeper Paul Gallacher frozen to the spot. In some ways it was a cathartic moment for the former FC Seoul midfielder as it marked his debut goal for the season in the famous hoops and comes at a time when speculation is rife about the uncertainty of his future at Celtic Park.
The third and fourth goal with live commentary can be seen here:
He looked so relieved. Lol
I’m relieved for him!
‘Possible Android’ – Keep up the good work.
