Manchester United‘s Korean star Park Ji-sung scored two excellent goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the death of each half to bring the Red Devils within two points of league leaders Chelsea. The dramatic victory thanks to Park’s heroic performance put United second in the English Premier League as Chelsea and Arsenal still await their Round 11 matches respectively.
In what was an abysmal display by the rest of United’s players, Park was the silver lining throughout the match for Sir Alex Ferguson. He put the home side on top in the 45th minute after receiving a well placed through-ball by Darren Fletcher at the center of the box. His right footed shot took a slight deflection off the defender and was driven into the bottom left corner of Wolverhampton’s goal.
Wolverhampton scraped through with an equalizer in the 66th minute as two-time Champinship Golden Boot winner Sylvain Ebanks-Blake‘s left footed shot found the back of the net to stun the home fans at Old Trafford.
However, United were not to be held as Park came to the rescue deep into stoppage time for the winning goal.
It was a brilliant solo effort by the 29 year-old as he started his run from the right hand side to get past his man and blasted a strong shot with his left foot which went just inside Marcus Hahnemann‘s near post.
Park, who has scored two goals against Bolton in 2007 as United won 4-1, scored a brace for the first time in two years since his move to England five years ago. His goal tally this season is now at four goals in all competitions.
