Ahn Iksoo has been hired as Busan I’Park’s manager for the next 4 years.
Ahn replaces Hwang Sunhong, who had fled to Busan I’Park’s Gyungsang rival Pohang Steelers—a club Hwang had spent 5 prolific years during his playing career.
Ahn, currently the assistant manager for the 2010 K-League regular season champion FC Seoul, will join the club at the end of the 2010 K-League Championship.
“I had been named the manager of the senior team, but I will also have duties as the director of the club’s youth system,” Ahn said. “Under Hwang’s leadership, the squad’s youngest players became the core of the club. It will be my responsibility to continue to nurture them and help them reach their full potential… The youth is among the reasons why the contract lasts up to 4 years.”
Ahn managed the Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma’s reserves before becoming the head coach of the women’s national team, leading them to a win at the 2009 Summer Universiade.
